40MM Grenade belt-fed launcher

The Mk 19 is a belt-fed, air-cooled, blowback-operated automatic 40 mm grenade launcher designed to deliver high-volume suppressive fire against personnel and lightly armored vehicles.

Chambered for 40×53 mm ammunition, the Mk 19 has a maximum effective range exceeding 1,500 meters. It can be operated from a tripod-mounted ground position or installed on vehicles, naval platforms, helicopters, or turret systems.

The weapon fires from an open bolt position, with ammunition feeding occurring during recoil, similar in principle to the M2 Browning. It can be fired manually or remotely via electrical solenoid control, either single-shot or fully automatic at a cyclic rate of 300–400 rounds per minute.

• M918 Flash Bang practice round

• Diehl HEPFF-1 anti-personnel with tracer

• Nico tracer marker round

• Less-lethal ammunition (e.g., CS gas, pepper)

A unique disintegrating link system retains the link with the cartridge case, ejecting both together after firing.
