Chemical Protective Underwear (CPU) – LANX Family

Chemical Protective Underwear (CPU) manufactured from LANX high-performance textile is designed to provide reliable protection in contaminated environments while maintaining user comfort and operational efficiency.

LANX fabric is the only material approved for use by the United States military under the Joint Services Lightweight Integrated Suit Technology (JSLIST) test program. The garment is manufactured in accordance with military specification MIL-U-44435.

The underwear significantly reduces heat stress during extended wear, while providing excellent protection against chemical warfare agent vapors and aerosols. The stretchable construction ensures optimal fit and unrestricted movement. The material also enhances flash fire protection when worn as part of an integrated protective system.

The product is tactically suitable and logistically practical. It is washable up to ten (10) times when maintained according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Minimum shelf life is fourteen (14) years under standard indoor storage conditions.

Product Description

LANX Type I chemical protective underwear is manufactured from a durable composite fabric containing polymer-encapsulated activated carbon designed for adsorption of chemical warfare agents.

Originally developed in 1991 for United States Special Forces, LANX Type I remains the only fabric approved by the U.S. Army for Chemical Protective Underwear (CPU) under the JSLIST program.

The LANX product portfolio also includes protective outer garments, hoods, gloves, and boot liners, enabling the creation of a complete protective system.

LANX Type I fabric offers excellent air permeability, promoting evaporative cooling and reducing thermal burden. Its unique stretch characteristics provide superior mobility and wearer comfort. The polymer-encapsulated carbon technology prevents sweat contamination of the carbon layer and maximizes adsorption efficiency.

Independent testing of LANX fabric in combination with flame-resistant outer garments evaluated using DuPont’s “Thermo-Man” system demonstrated a significant improvement in flash fire protection.
