Depending on the concentration of airborne chemicals, the NHI5 Escape Hood ensures survivability for up to 15 minutes. In environments with lower toxin levels, it can be worn for longer periods, although the manufacturer does not recommend extended use.

According to the product literature, the NHI5 Escape Hood can be donned in approximately 20 seconds.
