UXO Mattress

Mines are activated when a weight exceeding their activation threshold is applied. For anti-personnel mines, this is typically 3–20 kg, and for anti-tank mines 150–350 kg.

The purpose of the sabotage mattress is to allow personnel to stand or walk on a minefield or suspected area without activating any underlying mines. By placing multiple explosive mattresses side by side, a safe path or “bridge” is created, allowing an unlimited number of personnel to cross safely or reach and evacuate injured individuals.

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION
The sabotage mattress prevents mine activation by distributing the user’s weight evenly over a large area, ensuring that the weight applied to the mine beneath the mattress remains below its activation threshold.
The mattress consists of a hard tread surface on top attached to a flexible shell underneath. The shell contains five chambers, each with a flexible air cushion. The cushions are interconnected with tubes and adapters, allowing pressure equalization across all chambers. The mattress’s elasticity enables perfect adaptation to the terrain, achieving even weight distribution on the ground.

USAGE METHODS

1. Placing multiple mattresses in close proximity creates a safe passage through the minefield, allowing unrestricted movement.

2. Using the mattress to kneel or lie beside a mine for detection and defusal.

3. Using the mattress to breach a minefield: the explosive mattress serves as a base for placing a chain of pipe bombs (Bangalore), creating a clear and safe path for vehicles once detonated.

During storage, the mattress body is separated from the tread surface. Tread surfaces are arranged side by side to occupy minimal volume. Mattress covers are rolled and secured with special straps.

EASE OF USE
Before use, attach the tread surface to the shell and inflate the mattress using a blower or air pump until the desired pressure is reached. The mattress is then ready for operation.
